I like to think of today's hybrid post as reverse hybrid. Confused? Hybrid is the fusion of digi and paper scrapbooking, correct? But so far with our articles, we have talked about starting with a digi layout or a digi element with our projects and layouts and then adding in the paper element. Today, I am starting with the paper side. We are about to add another little boy to our family. I want to try really hard to scrap as many layouts for this baby as I did for our first one. I know that is probably unrealistic and might not ever happen, but I wanted to do my best to plan ahead. (Remember my project 365 post? I am a planner.) With this goal in mind, I thought about what I could do to plan ahead and also make it easier. I looked through Brogan's baby albums to help me get inspired. His album is about 75% paper layouts. There are some layouts in there that I absolutely love and they are ones that I want to duplicate for baby #2's album. I set to work by sketching the layouts that I loved. Then I made a template for those layouts in Photoshop. The great thing about this is that I now have my own design available to manipulate and use over and over again. I was then able to add in some elements and have the basis of the page done. These are my very own quick pages. Just to give you an idea, I dropped a picture in the page from when Brogan was a wee little one. With the basics done, this page was done in minutes. By converting my paper layouts to digi, I am still fusing the digital and paper world. Plus, I can easily print out this layout and add a couple of paper elements if I feel the need to do so.
Here is another version of my conversion from paper to digi. I sketched my layout, created my template in photoshop, and pre-scrapped the page.
Again, this took only minutes to complete with a pic and a little journaling. I could also delete some of the layers and replace the digital elements with paper ones. Think of the possibilities!
I challenge you to fuse the world of digi and paper by starting with the paper side of scrapbooking and see what you can come up with. Here is a little gift from me to you to get you started onĀ your own template collection. Click here to download my two templates or click on the image below.
