Jessica Sprague: Digital Scrapbooking, Photo Editing, Hybrid Scrapbooking

I'm a digital and "hybrid " scrapbooker with a passion for telling the stories of my life with paper and pixels and Photoshop and words.

I'm a web and user interface designer by trade, having come to it through work as an editor, a technical writer, and an instructional designer. Most importantly, though, I'm a wife and a mama.

My blog: http://spraguelab.squarespace.com

Almost equal to my passion for creating, is my passion for sharing digital and hybrid scrapbooking knowledge. That's why this site is here. I want to help you tell the stories of your life. So grab a cold drink and join us to grow your skills. Let me introduce you to the other members of our instructor team!

Candice Stringham: Photography

Candice Stringham is an editorial photographer turned scrapbooker. She is a Contributing Editor for Creating Keepsakes Magazine and was inducted into the Creating Keepsakes Hall of Fame in 2006. Candice Has a BFA in Photography and taught at a collegiate level after she graduated.  She is excited to be teaching at Jessica's website because teaching people how to use their cameras is one of her greatest joys!  Adventurous, but down-to-earth, Candice loves to read, watch old movies and musicals, read anything Jane Austen and create fun projects and traditions with her family. She lives in Brooklyn, NY with her two sons and actor husband.

She taught graphic design foundations, typography, design theory, and packaging design for five years at the University of Minnesota. She now designs scrapbooking papers for My Mind’s Eye and fabric for Northcott. She also has designed digital scrapbooking products for Two Peas in a Bucket and now designs digital products for Design House Digital (http://www.designhousedigital.com). Carina lives in Salt Lake City with her two little girls and husband Josh, who is an attorney.

Heidi Vanyo: ACDSee Digital Organization

I started digital scrapbooking about 4 years ago. I had wanted to do it since my children were born, but the resources just weren’t there. It didn’t matter too much because I didn’t have a lot of extra time when they were babies anyway. My two boys are in elementary school now and it gives me more time to myself. I live in Minnesota with my children and husband and enjoy the summer months gardening and the winter months playing in the snow and skiing!

As many people discover, once you start digital scrapbooking, you start collecting kits and soon realize that you don’t even know what you have. I went through a few different organizers in trying to find a solution. The last organizer I tried was ACDSee Photo Manager and hopefully it will be my last and final organizer. ACDSee Photo Manager allows me to customize the organization of my digital kits and, despite having so many images, still maintain speed and functionality. Both my sister and I were answering questions about using it and soon we were repeating our answers more and more. We realized that there was a need for a website that could offer information on organizing: www.DigiScrapInfo.com was born pretty much overnight. From there, it has grown!

Molly Schneider: Picasa Digital Organization

My name is Molly Schneider, and I am a Mac-oholic.

I am also an Athletic Trainer-turned Mom-turned Photographer- turned Digiscrapper. I have always dabbled in various art forms from paper to metals, even though my college degree is in the sciences. After the birth of my son, I discovered photography and Photoshop.

My relationship with Photoshop 7 was a short-lived one. About five-minutes. I almost threw the computer out the window (well, through it!), but decided to send Photoshop to the recycle bin instead. Two years later, I learned about Photoshop Elements and taught myself how to use the program.

A while back while blurfing, I stumbled across Jessica Sprague’s website. I was instantly transformed into her blog stalker (aren’t we all?!?) Then, in April 2007, CKU Detroit needed some volunteers, and I met Jessica in person. She is truly as kind, smart, and amazing as she is online.

I hope to make Macs & Picasa fun and easy to understand, so that you can unleash your inner-creative Goddess, without chucking your computer out the window.

Liv Esteban: Digital Scrapbooking, Journaling

I am wife to the most amazing guy and mom to five of the most adorable boys in the world. I am also seriously addicted to all things digital, photography, and coffee. I have played with cameras since I was a child (this was inevitable, growing up in a family of photographers), but all credit for my discovery of digital delight and Photoshop fun goes to Jessica, who has since metamorphosed from revered instructor and digital idol to one of my dearest friends, and Jared, who patiently saw me through my 24-hour signup adventure on that fateful day in June last year. There was no turning back after that: I am now a fully-certified Spraground fixture. :D

In my former life, I spent 17 years teaching in the preschool, elementary, and high school levels. I retired from the position of assistant school principal 2 years ago when my 5th son was born. In between I have also co-authored an English elementary textbook, published a photography coffee-table book, written several articles for magazines, and continue to delve in other publishing projects. I enjoy designing digital freebies which I share on my blog LivEsimply. Most days will find me right here on the Spraground, cheering and helping where I can. No doubt it is this passion for sharing knowledge and new discoveries and being part of others’ journeys through life that has led me to where I am now—right here with you, my international family, whom I hold very dear to my heart.

I consider it an honor and a great pleasure to work hand-in-hand with the phenomenal Jessica-and-Jared team, and am absolutely delighted to have the opportunity to do teamwork-projects with our dearest Jessica!

Creative Team

Ever since I was a small child, I have been a crafter.  I just love to make things! When I'm not at my computer "working" on scrapbooking, I am working on my PhD in Learning Sciences from the Univ of Wisconsin at Madison, hanging out with my husband of 8 years, or spending time with my adorable sons (ages 3 and 6...maybe incorrigible is a better word!

My family and I currently call Texas home. We moved from Michigan in 2006.  Being a stay at home mom didn't give me the opportunity to meet many people so I turned to paper crafting. Now, it's my full time job, along side my three adventurous kids! There is never a dull moment around here!!

I have been in the educational field for 35 years as an instructor of special education students, the gifted and talented program, elementary classes (my favorite is first grade), and administration.  A lesson learned well from my educational experiences is to see the “whole” picture which has carried into my scrapbooking.  I love creating and telling stories.  Now retired, I have the time to reflect and record these stories of my life with my husband, two children, and 3 grandchildren.  I live in a rural farm community where cows and corn are abundant!
