Raise your hand if you LOVE Splendid Fiins @ the office collection? Me! Me! Me! This is the kind of collection that if I found it in a traditional scrapbook store, bought all the paper and elements and brought them home, I would never use it because I love it so much. That is the beauty of digi. Once you've got it, you've got it FOREVER (or until your hard drive crashes and you didn't back it up). I could print out these cute little ledgers for days on end. ;)
Today I made some file folder pockets inspired by and using the @ the office collection.
To start off, I took the file folders and mask and opened them in Photoshop. Using my rectangle marquee tool, I added an inch to each side of the bottom of the folder. Using my paint bucket tool, I then filled in this area with a color I had sampled from my paper. I created two different folders using this method. I also created a large square to use as a clipping mask for the background paper as I was wanting to print this on double-sided paper.
As I was working with this file folder that I thought was filled with a pattern of computer parts, I realized it was a pattern of the cutest little office cubicles I have ever seen! Take a look at these tiny chairs!
The only thing that would make them better would be this...
Unfortunately, we live all over the world and can't peek over each other's cubicles but man, would that be fun! (The font used for our names is called paperclip! I know, too cute.)
Anyway, after printing on double sided premium presentation paper, I cut out my file folder and folded accordian style my two extra pieces that I added in Photoshop. This is where I added adhesive and then folded the paper over to make my pocket.
On the back side of my file folder pockets, I added strips of magnetic tape. The more tape you use, the more weight it will hold.
And they are done! You can hang them on the side of your refrigerator to hold coupons or receipts.
You can hang them on any metal surface and fill them with whatever you would like, as long as you have enough magnetic tape on the back to hold them up.
I couldn't stop there! I had visions of tiny file folder pockets, so I reduced the size of my file folder in Photoshop and printed out a few more.
This one is on the front of a tiny gift bag holding a note for the recepient. I also added a paper flower with a button in the middle to dress it up.
How about putting one on the front of a card? Inside this file folder pocket is a tiny note that says "happy birthday." You could even make them the size of a gift card and adhere the pocket to a card with the gift card inside. :)
File folder pockets @ the office. Next time I think I'll be sure to add the tiny file folder labels. ;)
