Congratulations to zig and luannw!! They took the plunge and gave it a try. Let’s see if we can pick up a few others in this round.

I was scrolling through the vast pages of Pinterest when I came across a really fun group of shots. It was a group of pictures that incorporate things together to make them look like something else. Sort of an optical illusion. I’m sure you have all seen those pictures where someone pretends to hold a building in the palm of their hands. I even bowed down to this trend when in Pisa.

Here’s a shot I took while marveling at the famous Leaning Tower. Everyone else was doing it, why not?



I know we did something similar before where we were making something look bigger than it really was. But this time I want you to combine it with other things to get a really great perspective shot.

Not sure if you can tell what I am after. But there was a light pole behind her and I wanted it to look like she is hanging from it. I couldn’t believe how hard this actually was to do. I had to keep giving her directions. Stand here, move over, move that hand to the left just a bit, NO, stop there, now hold it! Imagine me trying to do all this while the other 25 students are all running around having recess. Also, lying on the ground I couldn’t get the focus right to match up with the distance. I switched over to manual and tried that. Time was running out.

OOh! This one sounds fun! I'm going to have to do this one! I saw a great email the other day with a bunch of pictures where the people were using a full moon to do this! Too bad the moon has just finished being a full moon! Darn it! AND we get to use Photoshop! Definitely gonna have to do this one!!!

I do want to know how you got the heart bokeh going on in your entries, though.

Thanks for the website links. I tried a bokeh attachment once before. I was thinking maybe I didn't have it tight enough and let in too much light.

Maybe I need to work on my taping skills.

I'm going to start babbling here pretty soon.

You could see from the 2nd link....they didn't go sparce on tape! lol I glued the ones I made...I'm kinda OCD in that way! No ugly tape for me!! lol

Believe it or not, that was the first picture I took and the set up only took about 30 seconds. The biggest problem was me having him raise his arm when I would yell "right hand up". I was thinking my right not his. He's an elementary school teacher so he is a very patient man.

My first photo shot attempt was taken where the fire department was emptying the pumper truck with a giant hose. The stream of water was amazing. I had him stand in the typical male urinating pose, glancing back over his shoulder, grinning. I didn't have the nerve to hang around long enough to perfect the shot. Maybe next time.
