Encryption Error when unzipping files? 4 Years, 2 Months ago
I have asked this question on another forum but no one's answered yet. I am hoping someone over here might know the answer!

Situation: Nearly every time I unzip files that I have downloaded for digital scrapbooking, I get an error that states "Confirm Encryption Loss: Do you want to copy this folder without encryption?"

I always click Yes and the files appear to unzip and I can use them without any noticeable problem. However, if I click No, then I typically can't open the files and use them.

Question: I am wondering what does this encryption mean, am I losing data by saving without encryption?

Or is this typical to have the files encrypted for safety purposes on the web and then by unzipping you are supposed to remove the encryption?

Hoping someone knows these answers, I have been curious about them. Thank you!

I've noticed that, too, esp. w/files or folders named _MACOSX. It finally occurred to me that it's some kind of Mac file (created by Mac OS X, which is their current operating system), and I have a PC, so I just ignore the message and haven't had any issues.

You could probably Google the file name if you are curious.

I too have found that out but only since I got Windows 7. I always just delete the Mac file.

Yup, me too. I let it go ahead and then ignore the Mac file. I have Win Vista.

My guess was correct. From what I've read, they are Mac files that can be ignored.
