Color Scheme.. for a Nursery 3 Years, 8 Months ago
All right all my crafty color conscious friends.. can you help me apply all your knowledge to a nursery.
I am doing a Curious George nursery finally for my 3 month old son. I bought these fun wall decals/ stickers and am trying to plan something around that. I came up with the idea of a striped area around the wall with the decals in it and now am just playing around with color schemes. .. even using some of the scrap by color websites recommended by Jessica.
Anyway if you have the time and interest check out my three ideas here and tell me which one you like.. remember it is a nursery not a scrapbook page. there are three combos I have worked up and numbered.. or feel free to suggest something else.

They are all beautiful...but I am especially drawn to #3. I love the yellow walls.

All three combinations are lovely. My favorite, however, is #3. I like how much "sunshine" is projected from that color scheme.

All three are nice. But, here is my male point of view. I like #3, yellow, the best; but, I would like it better with the #2 blue stripe instead of the light blue #3 has. This is my 2¢.

So interesting that my scrapbooking friends are all leaning towards the yellow one. I posted the same poll on my preparing for pregnancy site and they are all leaning towards the two tone blue as well as my husband.
I appreciate everyone's two cents.
My original concept was the two tone blue then I just kept playing around with colors and I was really taken with the yellow also.
The rocking chair I have has blue pads and I haven't gotten any bedding yet so I can do whatever I want.. just too many decisions and I feel like I am in a hurry since my little guy is 3 months and I have done nothing for his room... he stays with us for now.
Thanks and keep it coming.

I was definitely leaning toward #3 before reading any other preferences. Interesting, isn't it?

Number 3 for sure! Love the yellow...it's just so happy and puts a smile on your face One of the blue choices would probably be more calming though.

Let us know what you decide to go with!

Hmm... I really like 3 too but maybe with a slightly softer yellow.
But it's a close second with the 2nd one! Whatever colour you choose on the wall you could do the opposite colour with the bedding!

It's going to look wonderful with whatever you choose!
Good luck!

Check this site. It is unbelievable for color combos.

I do realize you are not looking for girl colors, but this site has everything.

I vote for yellow. It's just so happy and sunshiney . . . is that a word? Just remember whatever color you pick, go softer because once the four walls bounce off each other the color comes out stronger.

Or could you do three walls in one color and the other as an accent wall?

Susan, thanks for the site

I liked #1 the best. I liked the interest that the two blues add. I also think that the blue will grow with a boy. Without totally repainting the room that base blue color you will be able to use with a different theme as your son grows.

I had a literary themed nursery for all of my kids. We had Curious George flying over the crib with a bunch of balloons. I loved that room.

At the end of the day, do the one you like best. You will spend a lot of time in that room, you should love it.
